Sachindra ‘Sachin’ Rudra is a seasoned investor and has more than 25 years of experience of investing in and scaling organizations.
Currently Sachin, through his firm Crest Spring Advisory LLP (and earlier through Caha Advisory LLP), advises funders and early-stage enterprises on solving some of the world’s toughest problems using an enterprise model. In this, he focuses on fund deployment for financial and impact returns and, importantly, works with potential funders and the enterprise management to clarify strategy, design organization structure and key operational processes to deliver on the strategy and help with key management decision-making. Sachin also makes angel investments in his personal capacity, serves as an IC member on 3 funds and works actively with the management teams of 4 early-stage enterprises looking to scale.
Prior to this role, Sachin worked for Acumen Fund as Chief Investment Officer, responsible for Acumen’s entire pioneer portfolio and investing activities working through teams in 5 regional offices (India, Pakistan, East Africa, West Africa, LatAm) besides the 'central' team in New York and London. As part of his role, he also led the conceptualization and raising of 3 returnable capital funds (targeted size: ~USD 150 M, cumulative). Sachin also served as Country Director and CEO of Acumen’s operations in India where he was responsible for the full gamut of Acumen’s activities and represented Acumen on the boards of Ziqitza Healthcare, Orb Energy, Lifespring Hospitals and Biolite (USA).
Before joining Acumen, Sachin was a Director in the India office of Navis Capital, an Asia-focused and sector-agnostic private equity firm where he managed investments in the range of $15-50M through the full lifecycle of sourcing, due diligence, deal structuring, portfolio management and exit. Sachin began his career at Hindustan Unilever Ltd (the Indian subsidiary of Unilever) in Calcutta as an Area Sales Manager, where he did considerable work in rural markets. He then moved into consulting at McKinsey in Delhi, which included an assignment working for the American India Foundation. Sachin then spent a number of years at Piramal Healthcare, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in India, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility, including President of Strategy and Business Development and Business Head of orthopaedics. He has wide-ranging sector exposure in the investing space with a high degree of focus on healthcare, consumer products and processed foods.
Sachin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from St Stephen’s College in Delhi, a Masters Degree in Economics from Cambridge University and an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics. He has MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
